Mick Takes Ratings Lead!!!
With Joel Parkinson knocked from the draw at the Billabong Pro Mundaka today, Mick seized the opportunity to take the ratings lead with a strong round two performance. It is the first time this year Parko hasn’t been on top of the ratings. Mick has moved into the number one position with his win in the second round and Joel’s loss, he leads by 44 points. He will need two more heat wins to lead after throwing away his two worst results. It’s great news for the Fanning camp but Mick wasn’t celebrating after hearing news he’d moved ahead of Parko. “Get rid of our two worst results and Parko is still in front.” Commented Mick. “I’m where I want to be. Joel’s loss is an opportunity for me but I need to concentrate on my game plan. This race isn’t going to end here at Mundaka so I need to ensure I keep my good roll alive.”
Mick looked sharp in his clash against David Weare even though he only put together a heat score total of 12.67. “I felt good but I’m hoping I can connect with some longer walls tomorrow to post some bigger scores. Pray for waves.” Said Mick.
With the forecast for the rest of the waiting period looking grim, event organisers are looking to run the rest of the event tomorrow, with the first call being made at 7.30am local time. For updates and to watch the event live tune into the event website.
