Here We Go Again
My break and time at home is almost at an end. Been having a ball the last five weeks surfing and doing some fun stuff around home. Footy (both codes) has been insane and finals are kicking off this weekend. Anyways, here’s a little recap of what has been happening during my time at home.
First week back was great to just hang out and take the dog to the beach, surfing Duranbah each day with my mates the Hazza’s. They’re two of the funniest humans on the planet. The second week was insane, the Reef team flew from the states and we had a week of surfing six hours a day to collect footage for the new Reef movie, Capricorn to Cancer, which should be released early next year. We were doing follow cams on the ski that will look insane.
Also attended a couple of epic weddings, so thanks for the good times and congrats to Bubba and Annie McClean plus Tom and Yolanda Whitaker. Both celebrations were full of love, laughs and too much booze.
The rest of the time I trained and worked with my shaper Darren Handley on some new boards for the upcoming leg of the tour. Up first will be the Hurley Pro at Trestles. I love this event because the wave is so high-performance. Hopefully the stuff I have been working on will impress the judges and get me some big results.
Well, now it’s time for me to start organising my crap and boards for the long leg ahead. I’ll post the web addresses for each of the event webcasts on my site but make sure you tune into watch Mundaka. I’ll be wearing a green Rip Curl E3 wetsuit in the event in role as an ambassador for Enviroweek and the Rip Curl Planet initiative. You can go to Enviroweek.org now and make a donation in my name for this worthy cause. Hang onto your receipt because I’m putting together a prize pack that will go to one of the good people that sponsor my Enviroweek mission. Stay tuned to the site for details on how to enter. Take care. – MF
