A Round 2 Win in Tahiti
Had a nail-biter of a second round heat against Ben Dunn today in the Billabong Pro in Tahiti. It was a pretty slow heat until Dunny put away an above average score with two minutes to go leaving me chasing a 6.76 to win. I had priority and knew I had to wait for a decent wave to give myself a chance. With 30 seconds to go there wasn’t much happening, then this little wave lurched up. As I was paddling in I could hear the competitor counting the heat down. I got to my feet just before the hooter went and got myself through a pretty cool little barrel to get a 9.17 and the heat win. It was an exciting finish and I may have thrown out a little claim (okay, a big claim) but you can’t blame me, it was a pretty exciting finish to the heat. I surf against my buddy Tommy Whitaker in Round 3 so stay tuned to billabongpro.com to watch it live. Here’s todays other results along with the upcoming heats.

Keep throwing claims Mick. I’d rather see people excited than putting their hands in pockets in a false show of cool/humility.

I still can’t get that heat out of my head. Yelling at a computer screen can be quite interesting when no one is around to see what you are watching and carrying on about.
