Mick’s ‘09 Title Hunt Underway

The 2009 ASP World Tour is underway with round 1 of the first event, the Quiksilver Pro, kicking off on the Gold Coast today. The waves were small so the contest was run at Duranbah Beach where Mick grew up surfing. Mick had a low-scoring heat against Phil MacDonald and Ben Dunn finishing on a total of 11.83 for two waves. It was enough for him to get the win which means he now moves directly into the third round. “It wasn’t my greatest performance.” said Mick. “But I’m glad to kick off my 2009 World Title campaign with a first round win.” To see video highlights of Mick’s heat click here.
